From Arles, we took a bus to Saint Remy de Provence and walked from the city center to Saint-Paul de Mausolée which is the asylum where Vincent van Gogh was once a patient. During his time at the asylum, Van Gogh painted les Iris, a piece of art that explodes with vibrant hues of purple and blue. From the asylum, we strolled back to town and had lunch at a quaint French cafe. Just inside The Cafe was a weathered table topped with a vase of lush purple flowers, reminding me of the brilliant purple and blue irises in Van Gogh's painting.
